Preparation for Sacraments
The word “sacrament”comes from an old Latin term, sacramentum, which means “oath” or a sacred promise. Think about it like this: throughout history, when people wanted to make a really important agreement, they’d make a solemn promise. God, in His great love, chose to connect with us in a similar way—through special promises called covenants.
Through Jesus, God made the ultimate promise to us in what we call the New Covenant. And how do we enter into this amazing relationship with God? Through these sacred promises, these sacraments! Our very first promise, our entry into God’s family, is through Baptism. And we continue to renew and strengthen that special bond with God through other sacraments, like receiving Holy Communion.
Jesus Himself gave us seven beautiful sacraments. They are His personal gifts, helping us to connect with God the Father and grow closer to Him throughout our lives.

Holy Orders
The Sacrament of Holy Orders is the means by which men are ordained to serve the Church as bishops, priests, and deacons. Through the laying on of hands and the prayer of consecration, these men receive a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit, configuring them to Christ in a unique way. Bishops, as successors to the Apostles, are called to teach, sanctify, and govern the Church. Priests, co-workers with the bishops, serve the faithful through the sacraments, preaching, and pastoral care. Deacons assist bishops and priests in their ministry, serving the community through works of charity, proclaiming the Gospel, and assisting at liturgical celebrations. Holy Orders is a call to selfless service, dedicating one’s life to God and His people, and making Christ’s presence visible in the world through their ministry.

Quincenera
Quinceañera Blessings
Catholic Christians express their faith in signs, symbols and gestures. Hispanic families, drawing upon an ancient tradition, celebrate the fifteenth birthday of a child in a special way. Quince Años celebration is the recognition of the journey that a young person makes in the family, moving toward a rightful place within the Christian community. This tradition highlights the dignity of the young person, as he/she is to grow in wisdom, age and grace.
